Monday was pretty and warm, with some clouds, but mostly sunshine for our Texas spring break visitors. The forecasted winds didn’t seem to kick up, either, so it was a nice day on the mountain. Today’s shots are from Sunday at the 12,162’ peak of CrestedButteMountain. My wife and daughter put their skis on their shoulder and took on the peak hike . . . the top of the High Lift where you begin the hike is at 11,843’, so it’s another 300 and change to get to the top. While the skiing can be adventurous, the views and perspective from the top are really outstanding. Today’s first shot is of the Bernholtz family all smiles at the top o’ the rock.
The next shot is of my girls, with Crested Butte in the background. Careful Honey, looks like that next step backwards is a lulu.
Today’s third shot is looking at the ski down from the peak—it actually looks really good, all nice and filled in. My wife and daughter skied it around to the high entrance to the Banana and enjoyed excellent turns as they headed into the big pitch. Thanks, Wife, for taking today’s shots!
While sunny, calm days are the best ones to check out the peak on, if you’ve never been up there and skied down it, put it on your list! I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything but accolades from those who taken the time to walk up there, so check it out next time you’re at Crested Butte Mountain Resort.
Looks like we have a decent chance for light snow today—we’ll see what piles up. Have a good one out there and we’ll see you tomorrow.
